Corporate Finance & Advisory
One Search has always had a strong affiliation with the advisory firms within the industry, in fact one of our first mandates back in 2006 was to build out a team of Analysts and Modellers at Deloitte, for their then-prominent PFI/PPP advisory business headed up by the illustrious Gordon McKechnie. A lot has changed since then, with new advisory houses coming to prominence and Infra & Energy becoming a much more prominent offering within the major investment banks, and One Search is proud to maintain a strong presence in each of the following arenas:
Working together for several years with some of the biggest brands in banking, we have established a reputation as the go to recruitment firm for positions in this space. We have made a multitude of hires for RBC into both M&A and their illustrious Infra Acquisition Finance team headed by Tom Sumpster – indeed we have placed everyone in that team except Tom himself – and Macquarie Capital is another platform with which we continue to place a high volume of highly specialised Infrastructure bankers. Goldman Sachs, UBS, Deutsche Bank and BAML are just a few of the other houses for whom we have successfully delivered on very specific mandates.
Boutique Advisory Houses
The Infrastructure, Energy & Real Assets space is home to a plethora of very specialised boutiques each with a very distinct character and deal focus, and we are pleased to have a number of key clients within this category. We have recruited for a number of the investment banking boutiques such as Evercore and Jefferies, and we have played our part in the successful build-out of a whole host of broader corporate finance advisory houses during the last decade such as Centrus Advisors, set up by RBC MDs Phil Jenkins and Geoff Knight, which continues to go from strength to strength advising major utilities and launching bonds for housing associations.
The major accounting firms play a significant role in the sector and regularly act for the banks and sponsors behind some of the most innovative new deals in the market. We have been mandated many times by Big 4 firms looking to make a targeted hire in order to strengthen their presence in a particular sub-sector – a recent example being the Executive Director hire of Alan Shaoul into Ernst & Young to spearhead their Ports offering. From very junior Analysts and Modellers through to Partner level hires, we have worked with all of the Big 4 and other prominent Top 10 names such as Mazars, Grant Thornton and Baker Tilly, in the UK and much further afield – recent hires for Mazars in Johannesburg and PwC in Singapore being just two examples.
We also maintain strong relationships with the leading technical advisors such as Infrata and WSP, and have handled an array of positions with these firms who advise lenders and investors on very specific technical and engineering aspects of projects.
